RENDEZ-VOUS

Acrylic on Canvas

90 x 60cm

The meaning of this painting is simple, but pure:
"Unconditional Love"

Despite the weird look of the characters and the slightly crazily creepy moon in the background this painting carries a strong feel of romance.

True love is not based on the the outer look, the mask we present to the world, it's about what we are inside.

The face of the "Harmony" characters is almost like a mask, the eyes are like holes with light shining through. Our souls shine through our eyes, the gateway to our hearts. It's a warm, pure, captivating, genuine light.

YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE

Acrylic on Board

80 x 120cm

In this painting the left "Harmony" character hands over a gift to the "Harmony" character on the right. The gift is sunlight.

The message of the painting is that our presence and love is the highest gift we can give in the world.

Originally I planned to keep the left side and character darker than the right, however left the difference faint for aesthestic reasons.

In everyone's life there are ups and downs. This painting came to me when one of my loved ones was facing severe depression and didn't want to be a burden for others. However it doesn't matter in which dark space a person we love or even our selves get into from time to time, we are still like shining lights in each others' lives. Whether it is a physical or mental illness or state of need, this phase can pass; but the love we give through our presence and being part of each others' lives is so much greater , it is the biggest gift in the world.

MONEY MELT

Acrylic on Board
116.5 x 120.5cm

This painting is a reminder to evaluate the meaning and purpose of money.

So often money is treated in such a reversed way, mistakenly regarded as the thing we want "the goal", instead of the medium which helps us to reach our actual goals and needs. And how often does it happen that greed for money kills all sense of humanity within in an instant ; it becomes the motive for so much destruction in our precious world and people's lives...

In the end the purpose of money is nothing more than a neutral exchange commodity, a universal server, a tool to support the ways in which our "modern" societies operate. In whichever form it comes -paper, coins or chip cards we put value on- outside of society it has NO use.
In a souless desert of ice, how would you use it there??
We ecxhange money IN society for a place to live, for food, for nice experiences...it should feed our love and joy and happiness for life and warm our hearts.

So it is good to be wary of not becoming a slave of the tool we created.

And we should always remember to put it in the right perspective:

money might give you power, but can't buy you love,
it might buy you a house, but not a home,
it might give you access to all health support, but cannot buy a healthy mind

SERENITY

Acrylic on Board
120 x 240cm

Whatever it is you are looking for "you will find the answer inside" is the message of this painting.

There is a joyful, playful sense of calmness in this painting, alongside many characters. So why monkeys? - Because they symbolize wisdom with a sense of humor towards life. And why tigers? - With their majestic appearance they stand for dignity and strength.

There is so much noise and distraction in the world around us. So every now and then it is good to return to ourselves inside and focus on what's important in life: Love, care, joy, health...And to create something we want in our lives we need to sense and visualize the little untangible ghost like  ideas around us to eventually turn them into reality.

There are different levels of maturity, wisdom, naitivity and innosence in the different characters. Some of the baby-characters have their eyes open with curiosity, as they don't know yet, however they watch and imitate and learn...

Bongo Bounce

Acrylic on Board
240 x 120cm

The message of this painting is simple: Find the fun side in anything. The nature of these little characters is curious and playful, just as little children behave; they see something (such as the bongos) and whether they understand its purpose or not they find a way how to have fun and make the best out of any situation. It's good to retain a little bit of this attitude towards life in adulthood life.
(The sticks or branches in the painting are cactus wood).
